Ben Bennett's fatal ski accident leads to rallying GoFundMe and tributes
Ben Bennett, the 21-year-old who tragically passed away in a ski accident last week, is being remembered in his obituary as someone who “lived his life to the fullest.”
The neuroscience student at the University of New Hampshire died unexpectedly in a skiing incident at Cannon Mountain on January 18, 2023.
Tributes are pouring in for the college student as a GoFundMe page is set up to help his grieving family cover funeral costs.
Ben Bennett’s fatal ski accident
Bennett went skiing at Cannon Mountain with a couple of friends on January 18. The 21-year-old is allegedly known to be an experienced skier and was wearing a helmet on that day. However, his friends started worrying when they hadn’t seen him for an hour and a half, The Boston Globe reported.
Sadly, Bennett was later found unresponsive in a wood trail on Cannon Mountain.
Who is Ben Bennett?
Benjamin Joseph Bennett was born on March 1, 2001, in Manchester, New Hampshire to Norman and Cindy Bennett.
Bennett’s obituary reveals: “He is known by all as being someone who was funny, kind, generous, intelligent, and hard-working.“
It further states that he was known in school as the “class clown” and was a driven man with big goals. After graduating high school with the highest honor grades, he went on to pass his first college semester with straight A’s.
Benett worked in the sterile processing unit at Portsmouth Regional Hospital as a supervisor and was an aspiring neurosurgeon. In fact, he recently enrolled to do online school to be a surgical tech. Ben is also described as someone who loved outdoor activities including hikes, kayaking, biking, and skiing.

Donations to cover funeral costs can be made onGiveSendGo and GoFundMe. Services will take place on Wednesday, January 25 2023 so donations towards the funeral have been pouring in today.
At the time of writing, $16,180 has been donated meaning the Bennetts have nearly reached their $20,000 goal. The fundraiser was organized by Ben’s relative, Katie Bennett. Who states in the bio that the money will go towards his ‘celebration of life.’
The money will also contribute towards paying off his car so that it can stay in the family. She further notes that some of Ben’s siblings live out of state so the money will help fly them home.
One person donating wrote a message stating: “Truly the sweetest, funniest soul I’ve ever met. You always lit up every room you walked into.”
Whilst another person shared: “We will miss your beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and you singing to every Luke Combs song.”
Bennett is survived by his parents, grandmother, and 12 siblings.
