Leila McKinnon has revealed she was rushed to hospital after suffering a horror accident.
The 49-year-old Channel 9 presenter, who was recently announced as the new host of Australian Ninja Warrior, took to Instagram with a photo of herself in a hospital bed after she shattered her knee.
“Hey what did you do on the school holidays? I don’t want to show off or anything but I got a fancy piercing in my knee,” she wrote, alongside leg X-rays.

The mother-of-two, who is married to former Nine CEO David Gyngell, then gave three scenarios of how she injured herself.
“Did I? a) throw myself into a mosh pit to get closer to Harry Styles? b) throw myself at a mountain at high speed? c) throw myself down the stairs in a high-heel related accident?” McKinnon asked her followers.
Nine sources have confirmed to news.com.au McKinnon suffered the injury in a skiing accident, suggesting option B is the correct one.
Today host Karl Stefanovic left a comment on McKinnon’s post saying: “Oh no Lala, that’s two of my co hosts down with dickyknees. Get well.”
Stefanovic was referring to his breakfast show co-host Allison Langdon, who was back in hospital last month due to ongoing knee complications after she suffered a horror hydrofoiling accident on-air in February last year.
The 42-year-old presenter had to undergo surgery after injuring her knee while filming a water sports segment for Today on the Gold Coast, and was forced to return to hospital for further treatment in March.
While covering the floods in Queensland and northern NSW, Stefanovic revealed on-air that Langdon was yet again “holed up” in hospital.
“She’s unfortunately got... that knee of hers, it’s just shonky. If she could replace it I’m sure she would,” Stefanovic said.
Several other TV personalities rushed to the comments section of McKinnon’s post, with Richard Wilkins writing, “Ouch! Bloody Harry! X.”
Langdon also wrote, “That is some sexy knee metal you got there. how was the flight home? Was thinking of you xx.”
Jessica Rowe added, “Ohhhhh noooo - ouch!!! Hope you feel better soon.”
It comes after McKinnon, who often fills in as Today host and has been working for Nine in various roles since 1995, was announced as Rebecca Maddern’s replacement on Ninja Warrior.
She will co-host alongside tennis champion Jim Courier, 51, after Maddern abruptly left the network late last year, and Ben Fordham quit the show mid-last year to focus on his hosting gig at 2GB.
