David Adefeso Addresses The Tulsa Massacre: The Loss of $455 Billion of Black Wealth
David Adefeso shares an important message on social media. Check out what he has to say about the Tulsa Massacre: The Loss of $455 Billion of Black Wealth.
‘The Tulsa Massacre: The Loss of $455 Billion of Black Wealth 100 years ago to this day, 300 of the most successful, independent and wealthy Black men and women in America were murdered by white state-sanctioned mobs, 1,200 of their homes burned, their entire business operations—banks, doctor’s offices, grocery stores, barbershops, and schools—destroyed, and 10,000 of them left homeless,’ David began his message.
He continued and said: ‘Without this infamous stain on American history, Black wealth would today be greater by $455 billion and we would have over 400,000 more Black millionaires— double the number we have today. But the greatest toll lies in the complete destruction of the intergenerational wealth and knowledge these men and women would have bestowed on the three generations of descendants that have since passed. Wealth and knowledge that would have formed the bedrock for economic wealth and success we would all have enjoyed today.’

David also noted: ‘Indeed, one can’t begin to imagine the hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions, of young Black kids who would have learned from and been inspired by these great men and women of “Black Wall Street”. And in so doing, risen from the chronic economic malaise that’s currently prevalent in many Black households in modern day America. Instead, the average Black family’s wealth is less than 15% of that of the average white family. And the average Black person is less educated, has less opportunities and makes 40% less than the average white person.’

‘Today we remember these lost heroes and the example they left us with. In honor of their memory, we should all strive to embody the ideals which they stood for—strength, hope, family, self-sufficiency, and an undying resilience. To the Kings and Queens of Black Wall Street – We salute you✊🏽❤️’ David posted on his social media account.
