Hawthorn premiership player Brent Guerra preparing to list Highett home in New Year
DUAL Hawks premiership player Brent Guerra is set to list his old nest in the New Year.
Now an assistant coach at Fremantle, the retired 255-gamer and wife Rachel had decided the time was almost right to sell their Highett pad, according to Buxton agent Matthew Pillios.
“It’s a cracker single-level with three bedrooms, two living spaces and a nice-sized backyard,” he said. “Brent’s lived there since he purchased it and since he moved to Freo as an assistant coach he’s been leasing it out.”

CoreLogic records show the property at 1/9 Sandford St last changed hands in 2003 as Guerra joined St Kilda from Port Adelaide for the following season. He won AFL premierships with Hawthorn in 2008 and 2013 before signing with Chelsea in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League as a player-coach in 2014.
Mr Pillios said the property wouldn’t hit the market until at least the start of autumn and felt it would attract “in the vicinity of $850,000 to $900,000.”
“It would certainly suit a downsizer, first-home buyers or a young couple or family,” he said.
Mr Pillios added the suburb had boomed in 2016 thanks in part to its proximity to popular Bayside postcodes including Hampton and Sandringham.
“Highett’s booming also because the council spent a lot of money on a new cafe precinct on Highett Rd. There’s a new Safeway, eight to 10 cafes. They never had that shopping strip two or three years ago.”
He said potential sellers were generally planning ahead at this time of year, with Guerra yet to decide on an auction date.
“People are hesitant to commit to anything until they’ve got back to their workplaces in January and February. A lot of places won’t be auctioned until late February/March,” he said.
